Park Info: Just across the harbour from the historic town of Shelburne, The Islands Provincial Park offers a restful stop on your trip around the South Shore. Bounded by Shelburne Harbour, it offers visitors a maritime camping experience. Shelburne's many museums, shops, and picturesque charm continue to attract thousands of international visitors each year.

Facilities and Services

The Islands Provincial Park is open from June 15 - Oct. 8 for the 2012 Season and offers a 70-site campground, water outlets, two picnic areas, an unsupervised beach, boat launch, and trailer dump station.

WiFi is available at the admin building only and the surrounding area. There will be a password needed, please see the park receptionists.

Programs and Events

July 21, 2012
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Scavenger Hunt, Washer Tournament, and Barbeque
Scavenger hunt for children followed by a washer tournament for adults and a free barbecue for all participants. Scavenger hunt starts at 10 AM, barbecue at 12 PM and washers tournament at 1 PM. Please note that there will be a $2 registration fee for the washer toss tournament. Meet at the park office. Sponsored by the NS Department of Natural Resources. Nighttime Escapades and Campfire
Come out and experience the park at night! We will be playing games and having fun in the dark including a campfire, stories, jokes, and s'mores. Suitable for ages 7 years and up. Bring sturdy footwear for running, jumping and something that can get wet. Pre-registration required. Meet at the large fire pit by the entrance to the park. Sponsored by the Municipality of the District of Shelburne Recreation & Parks. Please note that there is a registration fee of $8 each or $12 per family. Nature Feast
Explore nature through games, crafts, guest speakers and songs. For children aged 4-9 years. You may attend one or all three days. Pre-registration required. Bring hat, snacks, water and dress for outdoor play, sneakers preferred. Sponsored by the Municipality of the District of Shelburne- Recreation and Parks. Shelburne Kayak Festival
The Festival will include workshops, kayaking instruction, displays, social events, campfires, kayaking on the harbour and walks through the park. Pre-registration required. Detailed information will be available at www.shelburnekayakfestival.ca. Please bring clothing appropriate for kayaking as well as a change of clothes. Meet at the Park Lodge. Fees are $25/person and $50/family. Please note regular camping fees apply. Sponsored by the Town of Shelburne.
