Dollar LakePark Info: Situated on a large lake not far from the Musquodoboit Valley, the park is the perfect escape. The quiet woodland setting offers a wide range of outdoor opportunities, including camping, boating, canoeing, water-skiing, and fishing. A beautiful sandy beach at the north end of the lake offers fresh water swimming.


Facilities and Services

Dollar Lake Provincial Park is open from June 15 - Oct. 8 for the 2012 Season. The park has 119 woodland campsites, a picnic area, boat launch, and trailer dump station. The main beach is supervised during the peak season. The smaller "campers" beach is unsupervised.

Although there are no electrical hookups, water and vault toilets are conveniently located throughout the campground. Accessible flush toilets and showers facilities are also available.

Canoe Paddling Basics
Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia is offering an opportunity for the whole family to paddle canoes and receive some basic instruction as required. Those who have some paddling skills may go for a paddle in the quiet cove. Canoes and safety gear provided. Dress for weather conditions and bring footwear that can get wet. Meet at the boat launch. Canada's Parks Day Celebration
Various nature-based activities that promote outdoor recreational opportunities will be the focus of this event, as well as activities that promote and encourage family participation. A barbeque will be held. Dress for weather conditions and wear footwear for outdoor activities. Meet at the playground area, near the boat launch. Sponsored by the NS Department of Natural Resources. Fishing Workshop
The workshop will be one and a half hours long and includes concepts and understanding about the province's sportfish, with special attention to the freshwater fish found in Dollar Lake. Participants will learn how to assemble a fishing rod and attach the tackle. The fishing component will consist of safety, ethics, respect for our fisheries resource, fishing etiquette, casting demos, changing tackle, catch and release techniques and catch and keep techniques. This is a hands on condensed version of the L2F (Learn to Fish) program provided by the NS Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Bring extra clothing as you may get wet, water shoes, a hat, sun screen and water. Sponsored by the NS Department of Natural Resources. Please note that pre-registration is required.
